  • THE ANATOMY OF A GREAT BRAND – what to look for

    29-Mar-2018 by: Clare Yarwood-White, Opal & Co

A great brand has its own unique DNA: a distinctive personality which makes it stand out from the crowd.   What works for one brand will be all wrong for another.  This is why great brands are brave brands; unrattled by what the competition is doing and boldly blazing their own trail.  Once you are confident about your own DNA, you can build a brand that brings it to life and that’s when the magic happens.

Pulse is packed with unique, creative brands doing this brilliantly, so I’ve picked out just a handful of my favourites and taken a closer look at their brand anatomy.  Here are just five very different brands that are making a success of doing things their own way...

  • We aim to be the go-to source for contemporary sustainable design: In addition to our in-house designed collections of jewellery and homeware, we champion other small brands and designer/makers, with great product and a beautiful story. We first met in 2011 while walking our dogs in London Fields Park in Hackney, London. We quickly discovered a common love for design, animals, and sustainability, and set off together on a 6 week product research adventure to East Africa. It was this trip that provided the inspiration to start Artisans & Adventurers. With our office and flagship store on Columbia Road flower market in vibrant East London, Artisans & Adventurers gives traditional craft modern appeal, by combining a minimalist aesthetic with a love of colour and print.
